Manchester United will go out for Real Madrid winger Gareth Bale if they can’t acquire the services of Jadon Sancho.

According to The Athletic, Bale together with Juventus winger Douglas Costa has been lined up as replacements for Sancho who insisted that he was happy to play with the current Dortmund players.

The tabloid, however, claims that talks between United and Dortmund are still ongoing and a bale purchase will only happen if both clubs don’t get an agreement on the England international.

“The Athletic understands Douglas Costa is another genuine possibility. The 29-year-old would be available for a fraction of Sancho’s fee but his attacking numbers are also down. He scored three goals in 29 appearances for Juventus last season.

“Gareth Bale has long been admired at Old Trafford and his position in limbo at Real Madrid invites to talk about a move during this window. Wages for the now 31-year-old would inevitably be complicated, however,” reporter Laurie Whitwell notes.

Bayern Munich’s Kingsley Coman, who may be surplus to requirements at the Allianz Arena after the arrival of Leroy Sané from Manchester City, is another option that has been linked with United.
