Manchester City wants to add a left-back to their squad before the window closes on October 6th.
Any move, however, hinges on whether to not they can offload Ukrainian utility man Aleksandr Zinchenko. Ajax’s Argentinian left-back Nicolás Tagliafico has been mentioned as a possible target, as has versatile Bayern star David Alaba.
Alaba is a less realistic target as he is still a key member of Hansi Flick’s European Champions and can be deployed in various positions.
City last night completed the £65m signing of Portugal centre-back Ruben Dias, which takes Pep Guardiola’s expenditure on defenders beyond the £400m mark at Manchester City.
City’s current options at left-back are Benjamin Mendy, Zinchenko, and João Cancelo who is naturally a right-back but is capable of filling in on both flanks.
