The electoral process at Barcelona continues and is set for another big step on Monday, despite all of the uncertainty brought by Spain’s coronavirus situation.

This Monday, an important event takes place as the candidates must provide their signatures and endorsements to officially place themselves in the running for the January 24 elections.

Agusti Benedito, Jordi Farre, Lluis Fernandez Ala, Victor Font, Toni Freixa, Joan Laporta, Emili Rousaud and Xavi Vilajoana have to present 2,257 signatures from members and a guarantee of 125 million euros.

Signs suggest that not all of the candidates will be able to comply with both requirements.

The electoral campaign will take place between January 15 and 22. A number of face-to-face debates are planned, with some being televised and some broadcast on radio.

January 23 will be a day of reflection, while on January 25 the new president and his board will take office.

Unless the health authorities intervene, the elections will take place on January 24, where 110,569 members can vote. The voting booths will be located at the Camp Nou, Tarragona, Lleida, Girona, Tortosa, and in Andorra, Valencia, Madrid, Seville, and Palma in Mallorca.
