Liverpool’s Champions League last-16, first-leg tie with RB Leipzig will be played in Budapest.
This follows new strict rules imposed because of the COVID-19 pandemic.
“German federal police informed RB Leipzig today that the described case does not meet the requirements for an exception” to the travel restrictions,” read part of the statement from the ministry.
The match is scheduled for 16 February 2021, with the second leg two legs later at Anfield.
A statement from UEFA read;
“UEFA would like to thank RB Leipzig and Liverpool FC for their close cooperation and assistance in finding a solution to the issue at hand, as well as the Hungarian Football Federation for their support and agreeing to host the match in question,”
