Everton manager Carlo Ancelotti says Liverpool’s recent struggles are due to the lack of fans in the stadium.
Liverpool have suffered three defeats at Anfield this season in the Premier League as their home unbeaten run came to an end last month following a 1-0 loss to Burnley. The Reds had gone without a loss at home since April 2017.
Ancelotti believes the absence of home support has adversely affected Anfield’s fear factor which is an advantage for away teams when playing against Jurgen Klopp’s side.
“For sure they lost the support of their fans,” responded Ancelotti when asked whether he feels Anfield has lost its fear fact.
“In this sense, Anfield was one of the most difficult stadiums to play against. And the fact that the supporters cannot be there can be an advantage for the away teams.”
“[But] it is all the same what happened to us, the same that has happened to other teams in this particular season where you cannot have the support of your fans.”
Ancelotti will be taking his side to Anfield today in the Merseyside derby.
