Sergio Ramos has picked up an injury on Spain duty ahead of Real Madrid’s clutch UEFA Champions League quarter-final against Liverpool.

The 34-year-old central defender suffered a muscular injury to the internal calf in his left leg, during Spain 3-1 victory over Kosovo on Wednesday.

Los Blancos announced the disappointed news on their social media on Thursday.

“Following the tests carried out today on our captain, Sergio Ramos, by the Real Madrid medical department, he has been diagnosed with a muscular injury to the internal calf in his left leg. His recovery will be monitored.”

Real welcome Liverpool to the Santiago Bernabeu on Wednesday for a UCL first leg quarter-final.
