Barcelona is yet to complete the signing of Memphis Depay as reported by some tabloids but is still negotiating with the Dutch striker.
Depay has strongly been linked with a move to Camp Nou in the summer with the player set to leave Lyon on a free in the summer and according to transfer specialist Fabrizio Romano, both the player and Barca are still in talks.
Depay had a superb 2020/21 season with Lyon, registering 22 goals and 12 assists from 40 appearances across all competitions but it was less for his club who missed out on a Champions League spot.
Apart from Barca, Juventus is said to be interested in the player but Depay fancies a move to Barcelona as he wants to link with his former national team coach Ronald Koeman; the 27-year-old set to be offered a deal at Barca that will last until June 2023 or 2024.
Should he sign, Depay will be joining the trio of Sergio Aguero, Eric Garcia, and Emerson Royal as the new signings of the club with Liverpool and Depay’s international teammate Georginio Wijnaldum said to be the other player Barca are in talks with.
Wijnaldum’s move could be delayed until after the European Championships with Netherlands boss Frank de Boer reluctant to give permission for a medical.
