Spanish defender Jordi Alba has backed manager Ronald Koeman to remain at the club beyond next season.
Koeman’s future at the club has come under close scrutiny with other tabloids reporting that Barca might fire him even before the season starts. Something Alba doesn’t agree with.
“I hope that everything is resolved as soon as possible. The coach has a contract and has had a great season. The decision is the president’s and we will accept it,” Alba told TVE when asked about Koeman’s future.
There have been reports that Barca and Koeman wanted to do away with some of the established players at the club with Alba being one of them but the Spaniard insisted that his dream was to retire at the club.
“I have three years left on my contract and I think I am capable of (staying for the remainder of my deal). The club’s decision is up to them and my intention is to stay at Barcelona for life,” he added.
The team has gone on some spree this summer with the club already confirming the signing of three players in Sergio Aguero, Eric Garcia, and defender Emerson.
