Brazil advanced to the semifinals of Copa America following a narrow 1-0 victory over Chile.

It was a thrilling quarterfinal clash between Brazil and Chile as both teams could not see the back of the net in the first 45 minutes. However, at the start of the second half, Brazil opened the scoring through Lucas Paquetá.

Neymar and the substitute worked a scrappy one-two with Neymar before firing home from a close range. A minute later, Brazil were reduced to ten men as Gabriel Jesus was shown a red card for a horrific kung-fu kick that sent Eugenio Mena tumbling.

Brazil held on and managed to book a place in the semis of the Copa America.

Elsewhere, Peru managed to eliminate Paraguay on penalties after the match ended in an exciting 3-3 draw.

Paraguay saw a red card early in the second half after Gustavo Gómez picked up his second yellow card and eventually was sent off. Five minutes to stoppage time, Peru were also reduced to ten men after André Carrillo picked up his second booking of the match.

The match was decided on penalties with Peru winning 4-3 to make it to the last four.

The decisive moment in the match came after Peruvian goalkeeper Pedro Gallese stopped Alberto Espinola in the shootout.
