Serie A has banned teams from wearing predominantly green kits.

The new rule will take effect from the 2022/23 season onwards, and applies to both socks and shorts.

It will however only apply to outfield players, with the rule further indicating if more than three colours are used, there must be a dominant colour for the kits.

According to Football Italia, the changes were deemed necessary after television companies aired their views that green kits and the colour of the pitch are too similar, causing players to blend in with the background.

Sassuolo’s home kit is green with black stripes, while the likes of Atalanta and Lazio wore green kits last season.
